Our Story
The Sewing Corner began with a dream to build something of our own in Dubai.
After moving to Dubai from Lebanon, Nancy Nawar built a career in private banking, but by 2012, she was ready to pursue a different path. Together with her husband, Fahd Bin Amjad, she saw an opportunity to combine their backgrounds and shared appreciation for craftsmanship, style and tailoring.
Nancy brought inspiration from her Lebanese roots and its strong connection to fashion and style, while Fahd brought a connection to Pakistan’s rich tradition of textiles and tailoring.
Together, they turned that idea into The Sewing Corner, opening their first shop in Bay Avenue, Business Bay in 2013.
What began as one neighborhood tailor would become the start of something much bigger — built over the years through hands-on involvement, experience and the trust of their customers.
From One Neighborhood Tailor to a Growing UAE Network
Fahd Bin Amjad
Fahd is a Wharton alumnus, former financial services CEO and accomplished banking professional. He co-founded The Sewing Corner to solve a problem he and Nancy frequently experienced: finding convenient, dependable tailoring without delays or inconsistent quality. Three years ago, he left the corporate world to lead the business full-time and has never looked back.
Nancy Nawar
Nancy is an NDU Lebanon alumna with over a decade of banking experience. Her professional background shaped The Sewing Corner’s commitment to quality, punctuality and individual style. Having experienced the challenges of finding reliable tailoring services, she became the driving force behind the business in its early years while Fahd continued his finance career.
The Team Behind The Sewing Corner
Behind Nancy and Fahd is a multinational team of more than 50 people, including experienced tailors and seamstresses from different backgrounds.
Around 50% of the team are women, with years of experience across womenswear, menswear and a wide variety of garments.
It’s this collective experience that has helped The Sewing Corner grow while keeping skilled tailoring at the heart of the business.
